Metagenomic Data
Project
This project is within the italian framework of "Research Projects of National Relevance
(PRIN) funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)". The project
HERMIA aims at characterizing the microbiota composition in colorectal cancer patients, and its role in modulating host gene expression.
Role
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a computational background to join the
Advanced Translational Microbiology Group at the Department of Medical, Surgical and
Health Sciences of Trieste University (UniTS), Prof. Iebba Valerio.
Tasks
The researcher will develop computational methods to assess microbiota composition and function in biological specimens of colorectal cancer patients. Comparison with datasets retrieved from the literature will also be performed.
Remote working is also possible, in agreement with the PI of the project.
Qualifications
● BSc or graduation (>4 years) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biology,
Biomedicine, Computer science, or a related field
● Higher degree (PhD) desired, but not compulsory
● Strong proficiency in Python and/or R
● Proficiency in machine learning and graphical output
● Proficiency in bash scripting
● Prior experience in metagenomic analysis desired, but not compulsory
● Oral and written English language skills
Position duration: one year, 36 h/week (even remote working), extendible to a three-years
PhD (for graduated candidates) or to a PostDoc (upon funding availability, for candidates with a PhD).
Estimated annual gross salary: € 21.888,40
